In this month’s newsletter we are celebrating moms and hopefully for you that means getting to spend time with those you love, enjoying your version of decadence, and so many flowers and chocolate!
Wishing you the best Mother’s day to you all, especially to those that are celebrating their first mama’s day! There were quite a lot of you this month! Just this week a new mama came in for Acupuncture with her 2 week old wrapped in the Sully while her baby enjoyed a lovely treatment (and nap) together. (Just a reminder that this newborn stage is a great time to come and get Acupuncture with baby.)
I also wanted to take a moment to talk about Infertility awareness. Last week in April was Infertility Awareness week and I think that there needs to be more conversation around this topic so that we can help destigmatize and eliminate the shame that can come with the infertility journey.
The statistics are that 1 in 8 experience infertility so the likelihood that you know someone going through this silently is very high. In my practice I hear first hand how isolating and lonely the infertility journey can be. Often these women and men do not feel open to share their experience with even their closest friends and family. And many times I am the only person that they confide in and share their true feelings. You can imagine that many of these families may experience a high level of stress, anxiety, depression, and pain.
If you know of someone who may be going through an infertility journey the best thing you can do for them is to listen. Let your presence and compassion flow through you while you hold space for their journey and process that at many times will not have an immediate outcome.
To the mothers to be: I send you a wish of abundance, femininity, creativity, self acceptance, joy and love on this Mothers Day. May you be showered with baby dust and flowers today and all days.
